Wen site problems
We are having some web site problems. The Redemption site went down shortly before midnight last night when there was little we could do about it. The problem is being investigated this morning and we'll keep you updated.

Slashing the Detectives
We have a panel called Slashing the Detectives at 2pm on Sunday that could do with another person. Basically looking at slash pairings in detective shows, from Bodie and Doyle to Scott and Bailey, from Holmes and Watson to Batman and Robin. Anyone interested?

I am still looking for a volunteer to be on a panel called "What books make good films" at 10pm on the Saturday. Any takers?

Potential train problem
There has been a landslip between Leamington Spa and Banbury that means replacement buses will run between these stations for the next few weeks. This may affect some people travelling to Coventry. More details here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/90845.aspx

Thalia Evans
Those who downloaded the programme may have already spotted this. Thalia Evans will be joining us on Sunday. She is a web artist best known for Sonic The Comic Online, and it’s a great pleasure to welcome her as a guest on our programme on Sunday.

Auction item
Our guest of honour Dave Lally has kindly donated an unusual item for the Redemption charity auction, which will be held on the Sunday afternoon.

Remember the 1973 Wicker Man film, well what will be on offer is a piece of one the legs. Dave describes it as such:

"It's merely a small piece of charred wood -what makes it special however are the 4 p/copies (A4) of the B+W pics taken by me (Feb 1980) on TWM site (Burrow Head, Dumfries +Galloway). One is one of me below the then remains (like a "/\") of the legs on the headland (all now gone) -bits of which I of course took away. (I left most of it there-others years later, took the rest away). Anyone who watches the film will immediately recognise the sites. The 4 A4 p/copies are incl in the prize plus a certificate from me (well known in TWM circles) attesting to the wood's authenticity."

Redemption 15 programme
The programme book for Redemption 15 is on its way to the printers, but you can download a PDF of it here:

This will be my last Redemption programme as I've decided to step down from the Redemption committee. I was one of the founding members of Redemption and have been on the committee since the very first one in 1999. Since then, I've also ran the programme for two of the Eastercons. As such, I feel I need a rest from con running. Plus, I've been doing the programme for a long time now and I think it is time to give someone else a go and bring in some fresh ideas.

I'd like to thank all of the members for the help they have given me in doing the programme over the years, because without the volunteers and ideas from members, the programme just would not have happened. I also wish my successor, whoever that might be, all the best and I look forward to enjoying the programme they produce for 2017.

Emergency panel replacement
I have an urgent need for panellists at 10pm on Friday for "It's shit but I like it". This is a bit of a fun panel. Basically it is looking at shows that most people think are shite but have redeeming features that mean some people like them. From my PoV, Star Maidens would be a good example. It many ways it is totally rubbish, but I really enjoyed it. It is a fun bun-throwing session of people defending and criticising shows. Any volunteers?

There will be a flyers table at Redemption for members to publicise their own events, societies or merchandise, so feel free to use. It will be in the dealers room.

6:28 pm
We could do with some more items for the Saturday afternoon Zocalo. For those who haven't been before, this is like a street market type thing in the dealers room on Saturday afternoon. So we are looking for people who can run a silly game or a stall, or maybe do some fortune telling, or something similar.

Ruler of the Universe declaration
Can all people who know they are standing for Ruler of the Universe please now declare with how they want to appear on the ballot paper. The ballot paper will be produced on Monday, so you have the weekend to respond.
9:59 am
Grimm panel 8pm Sunday
I have a free slot for a panel at 8pm on Sunday, and thought we could do with some Grimm on the programme. So, anyone want to make up a Grimm panel at that time?
9:41 am
Emergency panellist needed
Anyone fancy being on a panel at 9pm on the Sunday called "When A Villain Jumps The Shark?" looking at what point the arch-villain cease to be scary?

Lewis Carroll documentary
Those who want to brush up on all things Alice in Wonderland ahead of Redemption, might be interested in the documentary at 9pm tonight on BBC 2. It is called The Secret World of Lewis Carroll, aka Charles Dodgson.

Guest and membership update
Right, there's good news and bad news.

The bad news is the guest part- Sadly Miltos Yerolemu has had to drop out due to filming commitments. We hope it's something cool (he's in Star Wars Episode VII, after all). Nevertheless we still have fan guest of honour Dave Lally, and fantasy/horror/steampunk author Jonathan Green joining us for the weekend. We're also talking to some other interesting people, and hope to still have some surprises in store.

The good news is on the membership rate front - we've decided to *not* increase the on-the-door rate from the pre-booking prices, so a full weekend will still be £70 on the door.
